Pitta Protein Burger served with a Minty Yogurt Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cooked millet
  • 1 cup cooked lentils
  • 1 cup fresh spinach (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup grated carrot
  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 whole grain buns

 

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the cooked millet, lentils, spinach, grated carrot, sunflower seeds, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 patties.
  3. In a pan, heat the ghee over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

 

 

Protein per serving:

  • Approximately 14g per serving (1 burger per serving).

 

Ayurvedic Sidenote:

This burger is rich in protein from lentils and millet while incorporating cooling veggies like spinach and carrot. Turmeric adds its tridoshic and anti-inflammatory properties. The spices cumin and coriander aid digestion and help balance Pitta.
